Geauga County was created on December 31, 1805 by the Ohio General Assembly. Celebrate this historic New Year's Eve event with dining, dancing, proclamations and the unveiling of the Bicentennial Commemorative Map.

Bicentennial Baby
UHHS Geauga Regional Hospital
While Geauga kicks off its bicentennial celebration at the stroke of midnight, January 1, 2006, a very special countdown will begin at the Center for Women's Health at UHHS Geauga Regional Hospital. The hospital is a proud sponsor of the official Bicentennial Baby, commemorating the first Geauga baby born in the New Year. Watch for announcements as the time draws near and, of course, after the Bicentennial Baby makes his or her grand entrance.

An Evening with the Critterman

You're in for a wild and wacky treat when Critterman (a gruff, yet gentle Northwoods hermit) sets out to help us undestand the ways of the past and present Geauga wildlife. Critterman, also known as Denny Olsen, has appeared in 49 states, including 50 plus national parks and countless community festivals. He has established an international reputation as an innovative performer, educator, naturalist, and storyteller, combining humor and drama into a costumed character to deliver his message. Geauga Old-Time Jubilee: A Bicentennial Event
Sunday 11 a.m.-5 p.m. (Rain Date: June 25, 2006)
Join the celebration in Burton's historic park to commemorate the June birthday of Geauga's first permanent settlement. Enjoy a box-luch picnic, pie-eating, pie-throwing and pie-baking contests; horse-drawn wagon rides; entertainment, an ice-cream social, games and more. Participate in the Pancake-Flipping Relay Race by printing and filling out the registration and release forms.
